If I buy only one thing this Fall it will be Rebecca Minkoff's Clutch.

I think it is the most perfect clutch in the whole wide world! Ok, that might be a bit much but I think it's so versatile and the size is great. You can wear it during the day to run errands but it's nice enough to go out at night for dinner and drinks. The problem is I've already bought a $400 dollar bag this year and I only allow myself one per year. Though it was for work so it shouldn't really count, right?

I love cute little summer dresses. Who doesn't? That's why I'm extremely thrilled that I was able to grab Anthropolgie's Bubble Hem dress that was originally $128 for $29.95!!! $29.95!!!! (Glad I got it when I did, my size is already gone!) I sometimes go straight to the sale section of the the website to see what deals I can score. I already know what shoes (black strappy wedge sandals with a cork heel) and jewelry (long gold chain with small gold medallions hanging around half the chain) I'm going to wear with this dress. I love bubble hem dresses. I know they're not a favorite of many people but I can't get enough of them. I just can't wait for it to come in. Had to be delivered because the closest Anthropologie to me is like an hour away. Not cool.

Lately, I've been in love with just about everything at Anthropologie. They have the cutest "girly" dresses that make me want to buy them all and the then wear them while frolicking through a park. Which, if you knew where I lived that would be a priceless image. Not only do they have great clothes but they have an amazing line of home furnishings. Every time I go to their website I get the urge to redecorate. I only wish there was a store closer to me. Actually, it's probably a good thing that there isn't.

I don't know why but recently I've been really into leather. Wait. Let me be more specific. Lately, I've been into leather jackets. Whether it's paired with floral dresses or skinny jeans and tanks, I'm really digging the look. I always think of leather jackets as a way to make your outfit a little edgy.

Express now has faux leather jackets. Their (MINUS THE) Leather jackets are animal friendly and inexpensive. I haven't seen them in person (hmm, maybe I'll stop by this week) so they might look like cheesy pleather but if that's not the case then I wouldn't mind picking up the (MINUS THE) LEATHER BELTED JACKET.

I know it's summer and I should be thinking of summer dresses and wedge sandals but honestly the way this summer has been going, how can you blame me for thinking of outerwear. Anyway, I would lose the belt and wear it unzipped with a plain white tank, dark grey skinny jeans, and black open toes booties. Now that would be a pretty edgy outfit. For me at least.*

Wishing Away

So far my one and only item I would put on my Fall Wish List would be these:

I love these these grey Stella McCartney Slouchy suede-effect boots! I think they are perfect in every way. Ok, I haven't tried them on and they might be incredibly uncomfortable but I love their look. I like that the heel is 3.5 inches and a little wider then most of the shoes I wear. Believe it or not I can walk in a heel of 3.5 inches very comfortably. All that being said they are quite expensive and for now they will remain only a wish item unless they miraculously get marked down to an affordable price. Keep wishing, right!

O Canada

Tomorrow I leave (@ 3am!) for a long road trip to Canada. I'm visiting family and will be up there for about a week. I am extremely proud of myself at how I resisted the urge to bring my whole closet and decided to pack lightly instead. You should see the size of my suitcase. It's relatively small. The key to that is picking one color scheme. My color scheme is black/white/silver/grey/bright blue. This makes it easier to mix and match and instead of bringing 7 pairs of shoes I'm bringing four. Flip flops don't count as shoes, right? I know I probably could do better.

My must haves for the trip:

I packed my clothes all around one pair of shoes that I love and had to bring. They're these silver pair of wedge sandals that I bought for $24 at some small local store at the mall. They are so comfortable and cute!
I HAD to bring these jeans. So easy to dress up or down.

If anybody has packing tips they'd like to offer, I'll gladly take them.

Love/Hate Sephora

Love everything about Sephora- Hate how much money I always spend there!

As my BFF puts it, "Sephora is like a candy store for adult women." I couldn't agree more. I never leave there with just what I intended to purchase. I always come out with more but it's just so much fun buying and experimenting with make-up. Here are some of the new products I picked up and I'm now in love with:

There isn't much I need to say other than Laura Mercier products work! Her Tinted Moisturizer is amazing and always makes me look glowy (not sure that's a word). I also picked up her Secret Concealor which has such a creamy texture to it that it doesn't dry out the sensitive skin under my eyes and truly makes the dark circles under my eyes a well kept secret.

I really like Sephora's line of products. I got this great eyeshadow palette customized for brown eyes and I love the colors. I like having it all in one compact which is going to come in handy when I travel to Canada this month.

My favorite product that I got on my little beauty shopping trip was Sephora's Blush Me! in Apricot Plaisir 6. I LOVE this blush. It has a hint of shimmer and the peachy color is warm and not like I rubbed orange marker on my cheek. It was only $12!!

Next time I hit Sephora, I'll be better prepared and only pick up what I need. Probably not, but I'll try.*

Joanna over at Smitten (one of my favorite blogs at Glamour.com) always asks, "Would you wear this on a date?" Now that summer is approaching I thought I'd pick out some of my favorite dresses to wear on a date. Here are my picks:

This Ruffle Dress from American Eagle is so sweet and simple. You can wear it on a day date with sandals or at night with wedge heels.

I love me some DVF! This cute Flutter Sleeve Sundress is bohemian chic and can be versatile as well. You can wear this dress from day into night. Hippie head band optional!

I love the contrast of the neutral grey with the bright orange skirt on this Walk-A-Ways Dress from Anthropologie. It's so girly and fun I want to buy it now. This is definitely one of my favorites.

I have no problem when it comes to shopping and spending money on things I like but there are some things that I LOVE that I can't seem to spend that kind of money on. As much as I have in common with Rebecca Bloomwood I'm pretty sure I'll never catch up to her spending habits (thankfully)!

Lanvin Flower Ballet Flat

I love flats just as much as I love my 4.25 inch heels. I love buying bright colored and patterned flats because they can really spice up a boring outfit however I can't seem to spend more than $90 on them. They're flats and I usually end up tossing them after the season that I've worn them.

FENDI Stitch-effect Sunglasses

Designer sunglasses. How chic do you feel and look with designer sunglasses? Very. How does your wallet look after buying them? Not so much. I think the reason why I've never been willing to spend a lot on sunglasses is because I don't wear them that often. I rather spend the money on a purse (as you may tell from this blog, I like my bags). Also, my favorite pair of sunglasses cost me $4 dollars at the one and only Forever21.

Herve Leger Estelle Bandage Dress

This is a tough one. I want a Herve Leger bandage dress so BAD! I can't however in my right mind spend a $1000 or $2000 on one dress. I have been looking to find them on sale and unfortunately I missed it on Gilt. I will keep looking and if I can find one on sale (I'll keep my eye out on TheOutNet.com) and justify the purchase, this is one I just may get.

So those are the things I can't seem to spend a lot of money on. However if anyone has a good argument as to why I should, then I'm more than willing to open up for the discussion!

I just bought my first iPod. I know, I know, how have I been surviving all this time? I've been surviving by all the handbags I've bought! I swear every time I would go out to buy an iPod I'd come home with new shoes or an expensive bag that I had no need for. Now I have finally bought an iPod because the thought of driving 12 hours in a car with my parents with no music was unbearable and just plain scary.

I just got the iPod 8GB Nano. It holds 2000 songs which is just enough for me. I got it in black because I like my tech toys to look sleek. I also got the 10-in-1 Accessory Kit which is great because it comes with the 3.5mm cable to connect to your car stereo and three silicone cases in clear, blue and pink, not to mention a bunch of other stuff. I should be getting it on Wednesday and I can't wait. My road trip just got a whole lot better.

Handbagalitis At Its Worst

My handbagalitis is back. I'm over my dress obsession (for now) and have clearly moved onto bags. Expensive bags, particularly MARC by Marc Jacobs bags. Expensive for your average girl but not exactly out of reach. I'm in love with the MARC BY MARC JACOBS 'Dr. Q - Groovee' Pleated Satchel. I know just the other day I was obsessed with the MARC BY MARC JACOBS 'Softy Jorie' Horizontal Tote but I did say "for now" because I know how I am. What I love about this bag is the rich navy blue color. It's not one of those navy blues that you have to look at it twice to realize it's blue not black. I also think it's such a different color from the bags I've seen people wearing. So I've decided that I will wait two months before making a major investment for leather, starting now!

This weekend I spent most of my time in and out of stores. I shopped so much I pretty sure I lifted some of the weight off the economic crisis. Just doing what I can to help out.

I randomly walked in to American Eagle Outfitters, I'm not even sure why, I haven't shopped there in years, and was pleasantly surprised by their selection of jewelry pieces. There were some great summer jewelry that just reminded me of the beach. I got the prettiest two strand silver long necklace with clear stones that I'm just in love with. I feel like I can wear it with a cocktail dress or with a plain t-shirt. Then I got the cutest drop earrings. They're silver and white round bauble. Ok, that's really not a great description so check them out below.

The best part it all came under $20!!! I have a feeling I'm going to wear this jewelry a lot through out the summer and possibly into the Fall. I just might be stopping at AE Outfitters more often.

California Dreamin'

I've been wanting to go out to California on a vacation to re-invent myself in some sort of way or to deal with my made up quarter-life crisis. I've recently had three signs which positively direct me to do so:

I had a dream about it

I found an old tee from the 70's that belonged to my mom that said California on it from when she was there over 30 years ago

I received an email from Hollister with the subject line reading: Take a Trip to Cali

All three signs happened on the same day!

I could totally picture myself being a major tourist in San Francisco wearing this perfect outfit:

The key to this look is light and comfy. When walking a lot you want to be wearing easy light weight fabrics. Also layering is important for when it gets cool later on in the day. And the most important thing of all COMFORTABLE SHOES!!! You aren't going to far or be able to enjoy the day if your feet hurt. So wear flats or trainers.

Still with all of that, I'm not spontaneous in the least bit and quitting my job (even though I'm financially able to do so) on the fly without having another job secured is just too hard to do for me.

Maybe all I need is just one more sign and I'll finally take the plunge and do it!!!

My "Classic" Go To Outfit

Everybody has that "go to outfit" for going out. The one that you don't have to over think and will always look good in. Well, mine is very simple:

Everyone should own a classic WELL FITTED black blazer. It will be one of the greatest fashion investments you make. It doesn't matter how much it cost or what brand it is as long as it fits well, that's all that matters. So that's what I start with.

I love feminine pretty camis and blouses so I love wearing them under a blazer giving me more of a dressed up feel. I love this beaded chiffon glisse cami from J. Crew.

I love jeans. I wear them all the time and a nice pair of dark jeans can make you look slimmer and sophisticated. Dark jeans can be dressed up or down very easily. These are from one of my favorite brands J Brand. I can't get enough of skinny jeans.

Again, another classic. Black peep-toe pumps. They can be worn with jeans or with your favorite LBD. These are simple but perfect from Calvin Klein.

This is where I have fun with my outfit. I love accessorizing with a bright colored clutch. I'll switch it up with bright colored or patterned clutches all the time. Lately, I've been into the color mint, which is why this Marc, by Marc Jacobs clutch caught my eye.

There you have it, my go to outfit. The key here is classic. A lot of these pieces are classic pieces that most of us fashion biscuits already own or should own. You can't go wrong if you go classic.*

I am obsessed with dresses lately! I don't know why but I am. Maybe it's because of the warmer weather or desire for warmer weather but I can't help wanting to buy dresses.

My latest favorite is this Chiarina Dress by Theory. I love the simple scoop neck and color block style. It's so simple and sweet. It's totally a Fashion Biscuit dress. I would wear this dress everywhere during the summer.

Let me start off with this Fashion Biscuit is not big on wearing necklaces. I love them, have them, but often just forget to wear them. That however may now all change. Behold J.Crew’s new spring necklaces:

Cat-scratch disease vs. Handbagalitis

Never, I repeat never go to WebMD and self diagnose yourself. I was having some lower back pain and according to them I either had a muscle strain, acute kidney failure, or cat-scratch disease. Cat-scratch disease? Yeah, exactly. One thing I can self diagnose myself with is- handbagalitis.

Handbagalitis- (noun) disease commonly found in females where a strong desire or obsession causes the excessive purchasing of handbags. Can include binge purchasing of the following: clutches, totes, satchels, duffel bags, wristlets, and hobos.

Yep. That I have. However I’ve been very good recently. I mean REALLY good. I went to Coach Outlet store and bags were 50% off and I didn’t buy one. Crazy, I know. I told myself that I didn’t need any new bags and that the Coach bag I bought a few months ago should hold me over for the time being. And then I saw this:

The Marc, by Marc Jacobs Standard Supply Utility Tote-ally Tote. This would be perfect for spring and summer. I can wear it everywhere. So here are reasons why I should, no, need to buy this bag

Can be worn to work due to good size
Can be worn on weekends due to cuteness
I’m traveling this summer and this bag will be a great addition to my luggage collection
Black and white color combo was big in the Fall 2009 fashion shows which means it will transition nicely into Fall as well
I just really want it

Maxi to the Max! (I know, that's lame.)

It’s been awhile but I’m back with a new pink laptop and I’ll soon be getting an external hard drive to back my files up daily.

Let’s see what’s been going on with me, I mean fashion that is. Saw the Coco Chanel bio pic with Shirley MacClaine; wow, don’t men suck! Besides that, now I’m obsessed with wanting to own a classic Chanel suit.

What else? Went outlet shopping and bought 3 dresses, 2 pairs of shoes and a scarf. I did not buy a new bag. Don’t act shocked we’re in a recession, after all one needs to be frugal.

Speaking of dresses, I’m obsessed with them and can’t wait for warmer weather to wear them. One of the dresses I purchase was a gorgeous green/black/cream bold print maxi dress from Banana Republic. I love it! It fit perfectly and with the right accessories can be dressed up or down. Follow directions below:

The days of splurging a little here, and a little there are long gone. We've gone from fashionistas to recessionistas. But it's not all gloom and doom. You can wear a $2000 dress and still look like an idiot (trust me I've seen it happen), yet put on a $20 dress and get compliments on it all day long (I love when that happens). So to help you along these trying times I suggest you visit this amazing blog:

With longer days and warmer weather (sort of, it might snow tomorrow) all I want to do is wear flowy fabrics and pretty blouses while having The Pretender's "Don't Get Me Wrong" as my background music. Seeing that everywhere I go all I seem to spot are adorable feminine blouses, looks like it won't be that hard of a goal to accomplish. It won't necessarily be an important goal to accomplish but come on this blog is what it is!

This is why I will always love J.Lo (and subsequently always call her J.Lo and not Jennifer Lopez). She's not afraid to wear $1600 shoes , with feathers, during a recession just to look completely amazing! The Christian Louboutin "Carnival " peep-toes are to die for! They look great with the Marchesa flowy black mini. She always looks flawless to me. From the hair, to the jewelry to the shoes, no detail is left unnoticed. Her confidence and ability to wear the dress and not have the dress wear her is what will always set her apart from other stylish stars.

Spring Fever in Process

I have to admit with the longer days comes the rush of spring fever. I can't wait to ditch my cable knit sweaters for some bright colored cardigans but since the weather doesn't permit so I guess I have to start slow. A great way to start transitioning from winter to spring is with outerwear. Trench coats weren't only made for rain. They're a great way to go from you're heavy, bulky, wool coat to a lighter but still warm spring jacket. Banana Republic right now is the place to go for trench coats.

Here's a little back story on the trench coat from the ever so reliable Wikipedia. (I'm obsessed with it!) Not that it's particularly interesting or anything, I just love that there is a back story to the trench coat!

So I went and made my first purchase towards my spring '09 wardrobe. I bought the J. Crew white matchstick jeans I raved about a few weeks ago. When I arrived at the store I found them immediately but they didn't have my size out on the floor which I was bit unsure of since they have European sizes 25, 26, 27... I noticed a sales associate wearing them and asked her. She said she had just bought them and loved them. I tried on two pairs and went with the bigger size which fit better. I also got the short even though I'm a regular because the length was perfect for wearing flats and sandals which I'll be wearing them with. I love them and I have a feeling I'll be wearing them all spring/summer long. Now what top to wear with them?

Shhh! They were $20 off in the store!

Going out in the city, must look cute

Ok, so what I'm thinking first is comfortable shoes. Probably round toe boots, with a thick low heel will work. Wear that over a pair of dark skinny jeans and instant chic appeal.

Now for the top. It'll be cold outside but may be very warm inside. A short sleeve mock turtleneck paired with a metallic skinny belt should work well.

The biggest issue will definitely be the coat. No one wants to be wearing a big bulky coat around but it's also freezing. Dilemma! You can try getting away with a somewhat thicker (hey I'm trying here) bomber jacket.
Oh, and gloves! Must always wear gloves! Nice leather ones, of course.

Next, keep accessories simple. For a purse probably a wristlet or some small bag with long straps that can cross over your body.

Jewelry can consist of bold but not too big earrings, some chunky bracelets on one arm and a cocktail ring on the other hand and that's it!

There you have it, what a Fashion Biscuit should wear to a show at the House of Blues. Hypothetically speaking, of course.*

Looks like hot pink is it

Out of all the Spring '09 fashion trends I think the biggest one to come out of it will be the color hot pink. I believe we're going to see it everywhere and I think it just might be a good thing (by the color scheme of this blog you know that I won't have a problem with that). Hot pink might be a bold color but you don't have to go out and wear a hot pink dress. Choose it as a color of an accessory like a scarf, clutch or even a bangle bracelet. Try pairing an LBD with a cropped hot pink jacket. Hot pink might not be a color for everyone but trying is half the battle with fashion.

Express Ruffle Cami dress is a perfect casual weekend dress that you can wear with a nice pair of wedge sandals.

These Kate Spade heels might only be for the bold but wear them if you dare! Try it with a a simple LBD and let them be the focus of your look (and the night).

I love this clutch from Tory Burch. It's such a subtle easy way to add hot pink to your wardrobe.

Again, if you're not afraid of this color go ahead and wear a fun flirty shirt like this one from Forever21.

I adore big cocktail rings! You can be wearing the most boring outfit ever but you can instantly brighten it up with a bold ring with bright hot pink stones like this one from Arden B.

Oscars Done Right

My pick of the night has to be Penelope Cruz. She rarely disappoints on the red carpet and last night at the Oscars was no different. She wore a dress that is older than she is and looked amazing! Ah, vintage. Definitely something that not everyone call pull off but she definitely can. Penelope wore a 1950's Balmain that had intricate hand embroidery with gold treads in a soft cream color. She got the gown from vintage curator Rita Watnick's Lily et Cie. Absolutely, stunning!

Oh DVF, how I love you, let me count the dresses...

I love Diane von Furstenberg dresses, then again who doesn't. Don't answer that because I will inevitability disagree with you! If only I could work for DVF, live in a chic apartment, and date a hott Australian musician. Oh wait, somebody already has that life, Ms. Port. Well sort of, I want the real life not the reality TV fake life. (I love/hate The City) Here are a few dresses that I love love love from DVF's Spring 2009 Collection.

I love the simple style of the Deana Dress with layers and layers of soft fabric effortlessly flowing about.

Again, such an easy style that with a bold color the Pepet Dress will be a staple in any girl's spring wardrobe.

Now, you know that there is no way there wouldn't be an amazing wrap dress in a DVF collection and the Persa Wrap Dress is flirty and casual and could definitely be worn open over a tank and jeans.

OK, so this is not a dress but I think this is one of the sexiest outfits I've seen lately! I so want the Reene Vest.

Gold is the New Black

I love, love, love this dress! This is what some might call a "fun and flirty" dress, but this gold, one shoulder Zac Posen mini is the new LBD (little black dress). Gold is the new black. Instead of going for that LBD, which yes is classic and always works, try a metallic instead. Freida Pinto looks amazing!!! Granted she would probably look good in a dijon yellow short sleeve collar shirt a la Dwight K. Shcrute.*

Happy Valentine's Day! This year if you have plans with a special someone and are going out to a nice we-don't-go-here-often-because-he's-forced-to-wear-a-tie restaurant then I suggest wearing this:

It's the HERVE LEGER SLEEVELESS DRESS from the Fall 2008 collection. The color is ROUGE. I love saying that "ROUGE". I love Herve Leger's bandage dresses it sucks you in at all the right places while showing off your curves. This one's my favorite.

Now if you're single, you should go out and buy this:

While other couples are forced to buy gifts to show how much they love one another, buy something that shows how much you love yourself. Go out and spoil yourself. This dress just might make you feel super sexy and your bound to get attention from someone while wearing it!

Oh, I shouldn't! I really shouldn't but I love these Guess stilettos named "Syria". Should be name "Sinfully Sweet" because the bow and nude color make it innocent and feminine but the sexy open side is what truly makes them a stiletto. I will buy a whole wardrobe to coordinate with these shoes so I can justify buying something I absolutely have no need for. They're not even that expensive. I don't know, this just might be my spring splurge for '09. Ok, this just might be one of my spring splurges for '09!

2009 Grammy Awards Favs

Well, the 2009 Grammy Awards was last night and even though there was some drama (I'm looking at you Rhianna and Chris Brown) the event was still filled with amazingly fashioned artists. My pick for the night was Carrie Underwood. I loved the simple neckline of her gold dress. The beading was fabulous and she was smart to be wearing minimal jewelry and avoided looking like a Vegas showgirl.

My other favorite was Sara Bareilles. She wore a fun pink flirty dress by Louisa Beccaria. It reminded me of those days when girls would refer to dresses as party dresses and took pride in looking polished. She looked absolutely adorable and the shoes were perfect!

Rompers???

Hmm? I just don’t know. I haven’t actually tried one on so I might like it but I’m just a bit skeptical. I’m not six years old or a 5’9 model so I’m not sure if I can even pull it off. When would one wear a romper? It seems like a casual look to me. Maybe to run errands on a Saturday morning, for a walk at the park or lunch with friends. You could wear it with a cute pair of metallic flats or gladiator sandals. Well, looks like I'll have to go try one on!

Vintage- Yes We Can!

There are so many girls out there that will strut around in a little vintage dress and look amazing and incredibly stylish. I am not one of those girls. They can pull off wearing a dress that belonged to their grandma and I'd just look like I'm wearing a grandma dress! Well now that I discovered Unique Vintage that might change. I saw this peach flapper gown and I think it's the perfect spring/summer cocktail dress. You can wear it to a wedding or any event that requires dressing up. Then when Halloween comes, use it to dress like a roaring 1920's flapper. Hey, the country's in a recession, we all need to make cuts some way!

Headbands!!!

From a recent outing I noticed a lot of guys wearing skull caps. A lot of guys, actually. In a way it sort of made their look pulled together. If a guy is having a messy hair day then they can just add a skull cap and suddenly they seem cool or like they have some sense of style but most likely it's just because they're lazy and they don't want to comb their hair. Well, I've come to the conclusion that a headband is a skull cap for girls. Having a bad hair day? Then throw it back in a pretty (possibly with some type of bold print) headband and instant cuteness. You look stylish and pulled together when let's be honest, you probably were just too lazy to do your hair as well.

Spring Cleaning in the Winter- Part 2

Ok, now on to shoes. I took all of my shoes out of my closet. 96% of my shoes are in boxes (I hate it when dust collects on shoes) with the exception of flip flops, sneakers, and my rain boots. I counted and I had 64 pairs of shoes. That consists of anything I can wear on my feet: heels, boots, flip flops, flats, sneakers and yes, even the rain boots. I got rid of about 12 pairs. They were mainly flip flops and some heels and sandals I wouldn't be caught dead in anymore. I'm talking about super pointy black stilletos with tiny buckles on the front and metal studs. Ewww!!! I'm not sure why I ever got those. They were so uncomfortable and I haven't worn them in years. I did find shoes I had absolutely forgotten about that are so cute, like a pair of open toe black heels with white polka dots and a bow on the front. Also a pair of tweed round toe pumps with a pearl and white stone broach on the front from Steve Madden that I bought when I was back in grad school. Oh, those were the days! I stacked my shoes in their boxes, of course, put them back on the top shelf of my closet and in a canvas bin I put all of my flip flops. With that done I realize two things, more like two new pairs of shoes I need:

black flats
thick strapped sandals

Any girl who works in a city which involves walking to work from a subway, train station or even a parking lot that seems to be a zip code away needs a pair of black flats. The pair I had and loved from Anne Klein had reached its breaking point and now I need a new pair. I like these from Tory Burch.

As for the sandals, there's no need. I just want them and these from Jessica Simpson are cute.

Spring Cleaning in the Winter- Part 1

I always do my "spring cleaning" in the winter. Why waste time stuck inside cleaning while it's nice out. Especially not here, when it's only nice for about 4 months out of the year! If you're stuck at home during one of the many snowstorms you might as well take the time to re-organize your closet. Glamour Magazine's website had a great two part video on the subject. I only wish they had mentioned shoes (I'll touch upon that later).

I followed some of their tips and took everything out of my closet and starting putting clothes into four piles:

what to keep
what to throw away
what to donate
what to get altered

Once that was done, I decided to organize my closet by putting coats/jackets and suits (I currently have a casual dress code at work) in one far end of the closet in order of season. My spring coats are to the back of the closet for now. The other end of my closet has my summer dresses, skirts and capris with formal gowns all the way to the end. In the middle I have canvas hanging shelves with sweaters and some shirts. On one side of it I have blouses/shirts/tunics color coordinated and on the other side I have winter pants, dresses and skirts, also color coordinated. It mad me realize how much black I have. I won't go into too much detail but I also went through my dresser drawers. The result of all this winter cleaning:

a ton of clothes to donate
a need to add color to my spring wardrobe
a closet that looks great and not like a size 8 squeezing into a size 6

Now for shoes? That'll be part two.

2009 SAG Awards

I must admit that I wasn't as wowed with the dresses at this year's SAG Awards as I was at the Golden Globes. There really weren't any standouts for me or dresses I "luuuuved". I will say that my favorite was America Ferrera. Her Vera Wang gown was different and I liked the drapping of the black tulle across the front. I think her whole look was pulled together and polished.

Can't wait to see who will be wearing what (and who) at the Academy Awards!!!

Time to suck it in

It's that time again where you subconsciously suck in your stomach while you flip through Victoria's Secret 2009 Swimsuit catalog. Regardless of the fact that we all don't look like supermodels, there are tons of cute new bathing suits, bikinis and monokinis (which are starting to grow on me). Plus, looking at all the swimsuits puts me in a better mood knowing that winter will soon come to an end and it won't be too long until I can lay on the beach with a good book, possibly wearing a cute new bikini from Victoria's Secret.

Spring Wardrobe Necessity of 2009

White jeans! I saw these perfect matchstick jeans (I prefer calling them skinny jeans) at J.Crew and have decided I MUST get them for spring. See, I have a casual dress code at work where everyone just always wears jeans. I love being able to wear whatever I want for the office and these pants will be a great addition to my wardrobe. I already have a ton of different ways I would wear them. Here are a few:

*bright colored short sleeve cardigan and metallic flats

*navy blue or black ruffled blouse and heeled sandals

*grey shimmery tank top with silver stilettos

Oh, the possibilities. I can't wait for spring!

Oh why did I open up that email!?!

It's 2009 and the country is in a recession and I have resolved to get better at saving my money and to stop buying frivolous things. Not that I'm not good at saving but I could be much better. So far I've been doing very well. That could be in part because this whole month has been like one on going blizzard causing me to hibernate in my house. Regardless, I haven't been shopping. Then this morning the worse email I could possibly get came my way- From: Coach, Subject: Introducing Our Newest Line. Oh no! I thought to myself, just don't open it. DELETE IT! Then I thought I can open the email and just take a look, I might not even like the bags. So I did. What I saw were amazing spring inspired bags called Heritage Stripe Handbags. They are absolutely adorable and feminine and I want like three of them! Oh why did I open up that email!?! I really want a new bag for the spring to bring to work. My white patent tote from last year is well, from last year. These are my favorites.

I like the beige leather straps with the small detail of the pink and white stripe. I've always wanted a satchel, too. They're the perfect size for work but I will restrain myself. Plus, I plan on doing some serious outlet shopping in the spring. I'll see what they have at the Coach outlet store.

Inauguration Day in Style

Today is a special day that promises change and hope. That being said let's discuss a bit about what the ladies were wearing. Mrs. Obama looked lovely in a yellowish brocade dress with a matching long, what I like to call, day coat. I've been told it's by designer Isabel Toledo. She wore the coat open with what appeared to be a cardigan underneath and a green cashmere scarf. Of course I don't know whether it was cashmere or not but honestly we're talking about clothes here, so relax. She looked lovely. Now for my favorite. Jill Biden wore an adorable red wool coat, grey and black plaid sheath dress with black (maybe suede) boots. I love that she wore a bright colored wool coat. It wasn't your standard black. I can't get over the boots. I don't know why I loved it. She looked sassy! As for the men- they wore suits! Here's to fashionable ladies in the White House and a better and brighter future.

Intro to a Fashion Biscuit

I'm a fashion biscuit. Fashion Biscuit. I know, what a funny little phrase. Not many people know what it means (ok, not many people I know, know what it means) however when I saw it on my new 2009 Shopaholics Daily Calendar I thought it was the best thing since Diane von Furstenberg's wrap dress! BTW: GENIUS! It fit me to a tee.

- someone who has exceptionally good fashion sense & usually knows what looks well on anyone.

- Also someone who looks good in clothes that look really bad on other people.

-Me.

(I'm not so sure about that second definition. All I know is not everything looks good on me but I'm well aware of what does and what doesn't.)

This blog will be about my daily love affair with all things fashionable and how they interact with my day to day life. I'll talk about the trends I like and ones I hate.
